Planning For Magnolias ~ Power Poppy

Happy Friday my creative friends!!  I hope you all had a delightful week full of creativity.  Today, I have a card to share that I made using Power Poppy's Planning for Magnolias clear set.  I wanted an "open face" type floral image that I could play around with, adding shadows and folds.  It's not a technique I'm comfortable with, so I figured practicing is the best way to learn and grow.  I also planned on Minc'ing the image with white foil, but in full transparency, I was happy with my coloring, and was scared what the white detail would do to it.  So.......I chickened out, and left it like this.  It takes me hours upon hours to color, so I might just try one bloom, Minc it, and see how it looks.  Yep...I think that's going to be my next project.

I used a sentiment from the Power Poppy set Prairie Cheer because it's for my daughter, and it's a perfect fit for her.  I added some Glitter Gloss Aqua Shimmer (Nuvo) to the punched heart after coloring it with some Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide (Ranger).  I also added it to the flower center, but it's hard to see in the photos.

That's it for today's project.  Be sure to check out the blogs from the following Bloom Brigaders:

Under Glass ~ Power Poppy

Hello everyone!!  Is everyone enjoying Spring?  If your weather is anything like ours, it's completely out of whack!!  I'm loving it though.  I love change.  But, then again, I don't have to deal with snow like some of you!!  We're just getting a ton of water, which we are in desperate need of, so no complaining here.

Since it is officially Spring though, I thought I'd make a Springy card using Power Poppy's charming Set Under Glass.  I LOVE butterflies and moths, so naturally I gravitated toward this image.  I also haven't made anything "vintage" in quite sometime, so I used muted tones and papers, and distressed the edges up a bit.

The image is popped up under acetate, which is also popped up to give it all an authentic "behind the glass" feeling.  You can see the depth better with the two images below.

I stamped the moth 4 times, cut it out and popped it up under the glass, and on the banner.  Everything was colored with Copics, and the edges were ink distressed with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink (Ranger).

That about sums it all up for me today.  For some more inspiration, be sure to stop by the following Bloom Brigader's blogs:

Cup of Columbine ~ Power Poppy

https://powerpoppy.com/products/cup-of-columbine
Hello all you creative souls!!  I am so excited to share my project with you today.  Marcella just released a new Power Poppy digital image yesterday called Cup of Columbine, and it is charming!!!  There are a couple of image options, and it comes with no-line versions!  I decided to try my hand with the no-line image without the bird and egg.  This is only the second time I've ever attempted no-line coloring, so please, don't look too close.

I thought it would be fun to add a pattern to the napkin, so I used my Copics to color in a stencil.  As I'm looking at it, I'm realizing I should have added some depth and dimension to the pattern itself, but alas, I don't have the time. Something to think about the next time I try my hand at patterns.

I added a sweet little sentiment from the Power Poppy Poppies set.  My Son and Daughter-in-law are going to have their first child this summer, so that means, in my eyes, my DIL is already a mother.  So I wanted to make a special first Mother's Day card for her.

That's it for my project today.  Be sure and stop by the Power Poppy Blog for the links to all the gals who debuted this set yesterday.  And check out what the following Bloomies have to share today:

Blossoming Cherry Shaker ~ Power Poppy

Happy Friday!!  It's been awhile since I've posted, and I am so glad to be back.  Sometimes life gets in the way of creative time, and when that happens, I get itchy to get back in my studio.

Today I used a Power Poppy digital image called Blossoming Cherry.  It's so soft and delicate and I just love this sentiment that comes with it.  Now, let me start by saying how much digital images used to intimidate me.  I used to avoid them at all costs.  Now, I love how versatile they are.  I can make them any size I want, and manipulate them to my hearts desire.  That's what I did with this Blossoming Cherry image.  I wanted a floral frame, so I just kept turning the image until I created the type of frame I was looking for.

I also wanted to make it a shaker card to amp up the "fun" and interactive aspects.  So here you have it.  My Blossoming Cherry Shaker card.  It's 5 1/4" x 5 1/4".  It's rather large.  For the background panel, I just cut it to size and scored every 1/4" both directions.

That's it for my project today.  For some more delicious Power Poppy inspiration, check out the following blogs:
