Cup of Columbine ~ Power Poppy
Hello all you creative souls!!  I am so excited to share my project with you today.  Marcella just released a new Power Poppy digital image yesterday called Cup of Columbine, and it is charming!!!  There are a couple of image options, and it comes with no-line versions!  I decided to try my hand with the no-line image without the bird and egg.  This is only the second time I've ever attempted no-line coloring, so please, don't look too close.

I thought it would be fun to add a pattern to the napkin, so I used my Copics to color in a stencil.  As I'm looking at it, I'm realizing I should have added some depth and dimension to the pattern itself, but alas, I don't have the time. Something to think about the next time I try my hand at patterns.

I added a sweet little sentiment from the Power Poppy Poppies set.  My Son and Daughter-in-law are going to have their first child this summer, so that means, in my eyes, my DIL is already a mother.  So I wanted to make a special first Mother's Day card for her.

That's it for my project today.  Be sure and stop by the Power Poppy Blog for the links to all the gals who debuted this set yesterday.  And check out what the following Bloomies have to share today:

Blossoming Cherry Shaker ~ Power Poppy

Happy Friday!!  It's been awhile since I've posted, and I am so glad to be back.  Sometimes life gets in the way of creative time, and when that happens, I get itchy to get back in my studio.

Today I used a Power Poppy digital image called Blossoming Cherry.  It's so soft and delicate and I just love this sentiment that comes with it.  Now, let me start by saying how much digital images used to intimidate me.  I used to avoid them at all costs.  Now, I love how versatile they are.  I can make them any size I want, and manipulate them to my hearts desire.  That's what I did with this Blossoming Cherry image.  I wanted a floral frame, so I just kept turning the image until I created the type of frame I was looking for.

I also wanted to make it a shaker card to amp up the "fun" and interactive aspects.  So here you have it.  My Blossoming Cherry Shaker card.  It's 5 1/4" x 5 1/4".  It's rather large.  For the background panel, I just cut it to size and scored every 1/4" both directions.

That's it for my project today.  For some more delicious Power Poppy inspiration, check out the following blogs:

Minc'd Hearts Abloom ~ Power Poppy

Hello everyone!!  I have a quick little post to share with you today.  I decided to get my Minc Machine out today to Minc up these new Power Poppy digital beauties from the new Digital set called Heart Abloom!  Marcy always includes such delightful details to each of her images, that they hold up beautifully without even any color.  I LOVE black and white.  It's so crisp and clean.  So, I thought it would be fun to Minc these guys with white on black.

I printed them on Copy paper and then took a rectangle die and traced inside it (leaving some gaps in random places just for fun) to create a frame.  I used the 0.1 Black Copic Multi Liner for a small, clean line.  I then photocopied it to get the toner outline (my printer is an inkjet), and used Minc's White Foil in my Minc Machine.  I didn't add a sentiment to this first one, because shoot...I liked it all by itself, and feel I can write whatever I want on the inside.

Below is the Heart Abloom...isn't all that detail just amazing?!?!?!  And the foiling picks up every little dot and line.  LOVE it! If you click on the image and zoom in, you can see each sweet little dot and line.  It really is incredible!

That's it!!  Although I love, love LOVE coloring all Marcella's images, sometimes it's nice just to be able to showcase her drawing and let them shine all on their own.  Plus...this is waaaaaay faster since I'm an uber slow colorer.  ;)

Thanks for dropping by y'all!!  I hope you are enjoying a nice sweet weekend!!

  Happy Stamping!!

Biggest Fan ~ Power Poppy

It's FRIDAY!!!  Woo-Hoo!!  I am so ready for the weekend!  No plans, just being a homebody with the freedom to do whatever I choose.
For today's Power Poppy card, I chose to use one of the new Va-Va-Valentine Digital images that are just too adorable to resist!!  They are easy to color, and just so fun!!  There's also a fun new Power and Spark challenge that started last week, so I incorporated some sparkle on the fan blades, sentiment, and hearts with my Glitter Gloss Nuvo pen.  You can see the sparkle a bit better below.

I should add that I changed up the layout of the "Happy Valentine's Day" sentiment.  Since it's digital, I was able to manipulate it to fit the way I wanted it on the card.  I used Photoshop.  For a tutorial on how to do this, click HERE.

Rocking Blooms ~ Power Poppy

Hello!!!!!  I am so ready for this weekend, and I hope you are ready to see a new Power Poppy card I made using one of the new Va-Va-Valentine digi images.  This fantasticly adorable set has 6 super fun images, along with four sentiments that you can include with them.

I chose to use the "You Totally Rock" image all by its lonesome...cause says it all!!  Isn't it so fun?  Marcy is so creative and clever!!  Her designs always inspire!!

Oh, I should mention, that I didn't have cardstock in the right color blue to match my radio, so I just colored some X-Press It cardstock strips with the B04 Copic and voila...the perfect match.

Copics:  B06, B04, B02, B00, B000, B26, R89, 37, 35, 32, RV17, RV14, RV13, RV10, T8, T6, T4, T2, T0

Rosé All Day ~ Power Poppy Digital

Happy Monday!!!  I usually only post on Friday, but Marcella has a new, incredible digital floral collage image, and the Bloom Brigade was invited to participate today.  How could I resist this?  She's calling it Rosé All Day, and it's available for purchase right now!!!

Power Poppy is starting something new this year.  Each month, we're going to feature a "color story".  It could be monochromatic, or a certain color family.  And this month, we're focusing on flowers that are naturally red, pink or white.  Don't worry are not limited to these colors.  You are welcome to let your imagination soar.  This is just an inspiration; a starting point.  I chose to keep most of my colors in the red/pink family.  I added some neutrals (browns and grays) to the brushes, and of course, the bees are yellow.  ;)  I also added some sparkle to the bee wings with the Clear Wink of Stella pen.  It's subtle, but if you click on the picture below, you should be able to see it better.

Also...we have some really exciting news to share.  Kathy Racoosin will be featuring Rosé All Day on the first day of her January 15th - Feb 15th  30-Day Coloring Challenge.

Copics:  Rose ~ R85, R83, R81, R00 Rose Leaves ~ G28, G07, YG25, YG11 Cyclamen ~ RV17, RV14, RV13, RV10, R00, E30 Cyclamen Leaves ~ G28, YG45, G00 Fern ~ YG17, YG03 Tree Buds, Ribbon and Pencil ~ RV69, RV66, RV63, E30 Branches and Brushes ~ E59, E55, E53, E51, T6, T4, T2, T0 Ladybug ~ R39, R37, R35

Blue/Silver Wedding Cake ~ Power Poppy

Happy Friday!!!  I don't know about you, but I've really been enjoying this month's Power and Spark Challenge to use the new Card Maps sketches by Page Maps!  I had a nephew get married right after Christmas and their colors were navy blue and silver.  I added a pop of red was only a couple of days after Christmas.  I just had to.  ;)
Anyway, I used one of the Card Maps sketches, Power Poppy's Dream Wedding Clear stamp set, some beautiful Kaisercraft dp and my Copics to make this sweet wedding card.  I also added a bit of sparkle...I mean, it is for a celebration, so of course sparkle is a necessity.

Copics:  C7, C5, C3, C1, C00, B97, B95, B93, B91, BG75, BG72, BG70, R39, R37, R35

Merry Christmas!! ~ Power Poppy

Merry, Merry Christmas creative friends!!  This can be a hectic time of year, especially for those of us with a creative gene, because we feel we need everything to be extra special since that is one of our gifts.  It's no different with the cards I make.  I'm always trying my best with my coloring or design.  That doesn't mean they always turn out to my standards, but the striving is there.

Designing for Power Poppy is a tremendous blessing to me.  Marcella is a gem!!! Which is obvious from any post of hers that you read.  She encourages, supports, delights, and just spreads joy wherever she is.  And let me tell you, the entire design team is just as special!  Each one blessed with their own unique personality and style.

I have so many treasured memories of this year (like our DT gathering in Missouri this summer...minus our dear, dear Kathy), along with my personal memories, but I'm here today to share a few of my favorite Christmas cards.  I have two from this year, and two from last year to share.

I don't know what it is about this Winter Wonderland card (could be the bright blue...turquoise is my favorite color), but in spite of the cool colors, it feels warm to me.  And the Double Gatefold was fun and quite the challenge.  I also just adore this image!  It is a delight to color and is so versatile!

Here is a look at it opened up.

My second favorite this year is quite the opposite of my first.  It is very clean and simple!  I just loved the sweet little stocking image from the Snow Kissed set.

Next up is a card I made last year using Holly Golightly!  I have to admit, that holly sprig gets used A LOT!!!  It is definitely one of my "go-to's".  I also just adore the sweet little tag!

Lastly, is this A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E snow globe from one of last years sets called Snowglobe Greeting.

There's a lot of dimension to this card!  The backgrounds are embossed, and the snowglobe base is burnished and popped up in the center to give a curved feel.  I also added some liquid applique to the snow, and some acetate to the front, as well as some layers to the image.  Told you there was a lot of dimension.  ;)

Sorry if I got carried away a bit with 4 cards!  But Marcy's images are just so incredible!  I can hardly help myself!!

If you haven't already, be sure to stop at the other Bloom Brigade Blogs!  I don't know how any of these gals are going to pick a favorite of theirs, because, in all honesty, every single one of their creations is incredible!!
